No not really, you may see a very attractive woman and say to yourself wow look at her and then you start to ask yourself what is she like as a person? Is she self-absorbed? Shallow?

When people say it doesn't matter they aren't being truthful, of course it matters to some degree, male female attraction is biological and inherent in humans. You have to like what you see to get the right chemistry, on the other hand, some people have such ridiculous expectations that it is virtually impossible to please them even if you look like Brad Pitt
