I believe there needs to be some level of physical attraction, but the best looking man becomes hideous when he presents an ugly character.

What is the purpose of marriage?

The sacred scripture of the Holy Bible begins with the creation and union of man and woman and ends with "the wedding feast of the Lamb" as we see in the book of Revelation chapter 19 verses 7-9. Scripture refers to marriage and it’s purpose as the meaning God gave to it, and its renewal in the covenant made by Jesus with his Church. Man and woman were created for each other. The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant which is more than a contract. A Covenant always expresses a relationship between two persons. The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of two people capable of knowing and loving each other and of course, knowing and loving God.
