Salaam! This summer, I visited Istanbul and had a great time. This September, I had planned to visit Iran, but due to political changes, I postponed the visit. As I am semi-retired, I would like to divide my time between the Balkans/Middle East and the USA. Now that Tehran is out of the question, I am considering Istanbul as an alternative. I don't believe in reincarnation, but my Persian friends told me perhaps I was Persian in a past life. Persian culture is closest to the culture and values I grew up with, and I enjoy Persian food, music, and poetry (Rumi, Hafez...). I try to play the setar and oud. I am a firm believer that a healthy body is a healthy mind. In my younger days, I completed many (20+) marathons and triathlons, including IronMan, skiing, and rock climbing. It would be a joy to meet and share with someone kind, wise, intelligent, grounded, and authentic who doesn't sweat the small stuff too much. Life is too short to waste time on nonsense.
