Life is a journey which often offers new pathways and unexpected opportunities to change and grow, laugh and cry, love and give. We each are guided, nutured and loved by our families and friends until we are launched as independent adults. Ultimately our life's successes and failures mold us into the learned and wise adult we have become. This is a brief recap of where life has brought me. My career has relocated me to NW AR. Describe the perfect evening.
Candle light and a healthly dinner created together in the kitchen with friends, discussion about our work week and latest adventures in life, the latest book or good music, toss the topic of politics about, focus on good friendship and life. Rimsky-Korsokov's Sheherazade playing in the background and perhaps pop open a bottle of good Shiraz for my friends. If with someone special, a long drive, an unplanned adventure like a walk, long walk, hold hands and talk, star gaze, take in nature and appreciate life. Simplicity. I am a boring classic example of Virgo
Describe your perfect weekend.
A drive in the countryside to be with nature, a long walk, see perfect evening. Add a picnic by a cool babbling brook, a shady tree for rest, a great book, a fantastic conversation, a restful nap in a field of sweet scented flowers. Their aroma dancing about my hair and face as the wind gently climbs over a hillside permitting the sun to peek through fluffly clouds overhead and warm the smile upon my face. It reminds me to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life we have about us and are responsible to protect for the future generations.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
My gentle and romantic heart says yes, my logical brain questions the mathematical probability, my scientific medical mind shouts loudly....it is pure chemistry and my spiritual strength and energy opens my senses and I believe because I have seen many miraculous things in life. Perhaps if someone else has the same thinking, tolerant of my imagination grounded well in reality, appreciative of chemistry combined with a spiritual connectedness, he may read this and ponder the possibilities. I imagine it will be a perchance meeting at a large Farmer's Market on a Saturday or perhaps our pathways may cross at a mutual work activity or a volunteer activity we share. Optimism is a nice quality I posses, it is impacted by imagination grounded of course in logic and reality.
How many kids would you like to have?
Mine are adults and independent, hope yours are too, I enjoy my Grand Motherly Title and Position, would venture to say I enjoy my independence after successfully raising my family.
How important is someone's physical appearance to you?
I find a man with facial hair to be very attractive. I do believe making an effort to maintain good health is important. Does that mean muscles and the weight lifting athletic type. Nope not at all. I need someone who wants to walk with me and will be tolerant of the fact I eat healthy most of the time. I try to elect Healthy. Improving one's health and body is important. Beauty, however comes from the inside and has nothing to do with exterior appearance. It is the spirit which I find attractive, we all age and lose beauty. I wish I were 5 foot 5 instead of 5 foot 8. None of us are perfect.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
In one magic moment...pooffff education would be free and open for all to seek, I would create eco friendly power, water and sewer systems and housing for all and provide free healthcare and erradicate religious disharmony. All lovely architecture destroyed by war would be rebuilt and everyone would share their food and posessions with others. You did say magical powers....right?
What is the purpose of marriage?
Marriage is a wonderful gesture of committment and trust between 2 people and the ultimate demonstration of love and how it evolves through good times and bad, through happiness and hardships. It is especially essential when young and wishing to have a family. Marriage late in life is an affirmation of the same committment, trust and unconditional love but with a more seasoned and experienced level of appreciation of time, understanding the value of companionship and also a comfort being alone with oneself. It opens ones eyes to reality, imperfections and acceptance and could be wonderful for two people who truly get it and have forgiven, set the past behind them and are ready to be walking on the same pathway.
What is the most important lesson that you've learned?
I have learned the answer to the prior question as the purpose of marriage has been difficult for me to achieve. Elaborating more, the lessons best in life are those which hurt the deepest, cause great struggle, intractable pain, sleepless nights, flooding tears and extreme pain. These lessons build an inner strength, causes one to understand not only what they know but what they do not know and to see beyond yourself. Achieve an epiphany of self actualization, mold the inner character of tenanacity, see your own inner strength and peace, reveal independence and a true understanding of value in self, of others and the meaning of true integrity. This is when you slap yourself figuratively in the face and realize not all people have and understanding or know integrity. At this point you can choose to close everyone out and guard yourself from the world or dive head on back into life with an awesome sharp, finely tuned skillset that is better than using night vision goggles or having xray vision like superman. Or in my case Wonder Woman. Warning, with age and experience comes wisdom.
What do your friends like about you most?
I share my secrets, am dependable and trustworthy, acknowledge my own imperfections, have an astronomical amount of forgiviness and have a peaceful glow of warmth which has a calming effect when in my company. On top of these I have a keen sense of humor and very often laugh at my own silly self because as much as I see myself as the braniac and even though I have dark hair, I too have my girly emotional, silly blonde moments.
What do your friends tease you about the most?
My innocence and the fact I look like a school girl and still want to have faith and believe in the good of others and humanity. Get me near a puppy or take me to the zoo or Cirque de Solei and you will understand, I am still a little girl in many ways, but with wisdom and experience that has built character.
What gets on your nerves?
Someone who makes fun of my femininity, I am a lady, so enjoy me for who I am.
What is the most important thing in a relationship?
Best friends first. Take me for a long walk, spend time and talk, reveal yourself to me, work by my side or dance in the kitchen while we cook, life is short and wonderful, it so easy yet we complicate it too much. Show me your sincerity and integrity, pehaps then you may win my heart in addition to my friendship. Appreciate my independence but don't take advantage of it and don't rush me.
What's the best age to get married?
It may be different for different people, it is not an exact science.
What turns you off?
Lack of comunication that causes misunderstandings. Arrogance and social snobbery. Value measured in Euros or Dollars. Lack of compassion and greed and not doing for others in need. Preconceived notions of bias basedon total ignorance. Measuring someone's worth by tangible assets. Pushy people with hidden agendas. We all come with experience at our age, I am appreciative we come with a past, it turns me off for a man to be so bitter or angry he hasn't graduated from the victim stage of pain and perhaps unknowingly wants to punish all women for the wrongs or pains of his past. We can share of life's experiences and discuss them, but do understand I am ready for the man who has analyzed himself and has let go of his anger and can acknowledge he too is not perfect as I am not either. Then we can walk a journey together and be at the same place in life.
What turns you on?
A strong man who is not afraid to show his ability to be tender, kind and loving when no one is looking but me. A man who can say what he thinks and is blunt, stubborn and challenging. It works well for me, I am the polite, diplomatic one, it is an attractive opposite. Someone who understands the homebody nature, who has the demading career and needs destress time. I am ready for the one who appreciates the simplicity in life, not wrapped up in social trends or impressing others with materialsim. I like someone who has put the past behind him and is ready for a new journey in life, be realistic, realize I also enjoy my alone time and we may have different likes and dislikes. I am turned on by a man totally blunt, is willing to be himself and is not worried about what others think or is excessively concerned about impressing others. I like someone who can wear his favorite old sweater with me so I can wear my favorite old sweatshirt. I find it thrilling to be with someone comfortable with me to be himself, then he can relax and spend time to just stop and see me as I am, someone totally unique and a well kept treasure.
What do you hope to be doing five years from now?
Enjoying time one day with the love of my life. He being blunt and direct, holding my hand and walking together with our dogs. Me being diplomatic and PC to fill in the gaps and occassioanlly we will check in with our grown children and do family time. Time is prescious and should be spent doing simple things. Maybe we may even write a book together.
